Guide you on the trek and explain to you so many things which probably you never hear. Trekking guides are trained generally from Nepal Government sectors therefore if you have a trained license holder guide then he will definitely make a wonderful trip adding so much extra knowledge and take care. Trekking is the major attraction of Nepal whereas the world’s tallest peak and massif Annapurna Mountain range, Similarly the Ghorepani poon hill trek is a short trekking destination located in the Annapurna region to the mid-west north of Nepal.

If you wish to experience the short hiking in Nepal then the Ghorepani poon hill trek will be the best choice where, There are spectacular mountain views to observe and passes so many Verdant forests, villages, and terrace fields. Even if you have 3 days time instead of 4 days it can be done and the view of the Himalayas will not be missing following this short itinerary though.

This short Annapurna trekking begins from Pokhara to Nayapul by vehicle then we follow the popular trekking path along the river towards Birethanti village, where we have to show our permits and TIMS card, probably Lunch if we reach there by noon, after this beautiful village we continue our journey toward Thikhedunga, it is where we spent a night in the cozy small tea house. Our day 2nd going to be a relatively difficult day but you will have such a huge mountain view already after2 hours of walking from Thikhedunga. The best day of this trek is day 3rd to reach the top poon hill slope it is where you forgot all your pain because of the breathtaking hundred and eighty-degree views of Annapurna & Dhaulagiri Mountain Range.

If you are short on time, you can follow the same way back until Ulleri then take a jeep to Pokhara via Nayapul if not you can still follow the proper trekking route to Tadapani, next Ghandruk, and back to Pokhara.

If you wish to use the internet/wifi for your personal uses or official uses almost every Tea house/lodge provides the internet and ph signal in case you have to call back your work or home as it is quite facilitating for a few years.

A. Itinerary:

Day 1: Drive from lake side Pokhara to Nayapul than trek to Thikhedhunga(1560 m)

Day 2: Trek to Ghorepani(2,820 m)passes Ulleri, Banthati & Nangethanti.

Day 3: Trek to Tadapani(2600 m) after poon hill sunrise in the morning.

Day 4: Trek to Syaulibazar(1150 m) via Ghandruk.

Day 5: Trek to Napapul(1075 m) than drive to Pokhara.

B. Tea houses/Lodges

Ghorepani poon hill trek is a short and easy trek as it is also close to reaching Pokhara city, therefore the supply of the goods and materials are not too bad compared to other trekking trails in the Annapurna region. There are quite nice buildings now with a private bathroom, heater, wifi, and battery charging plug all of the most essential things you need for the trek are available during the Ghorepani poon hill trek.

Since the last 5 years in this trek, I would say district changes of Tea House facilities. There are quite some choices of Tea house now either you need basic without a bathroom or with bathroom, or with a heater but facility ways the cost of the rooms are different. In general, the approximate price of a Tea House room is $ 3 US to $ 15 US per Night.

The Ghorepani hotel management committee has sort of rules that you have to eat your dinner, and breakfast at the same tea house you are staying in as they have very cheap accommodation and the price of food will cover it thus be aware of these rules if you are eating outside. without following the rules from that area they have to pay $ 20 US or even more penalty per person.

C. Choose your time for Ghorepani trekking:

March and April is the best time for the Ghorepani poon hill trek because the Rhododendron trees are in Bloom and also the clear sky to observe the stunning Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Mountain View. The temperature during March and April will be mild about 18 degrees during the day and 10 plus at Night (Ghorepano & Tadapani 2 cold nights). Trekking during those months is recommended especially for photographers and for real travelers who prefer to take beautiful pictures and trek at the same time.

D. Money/expenses during Ghorepani trek:

Accommodation during this trip is not expensive compared to the price of the food you buy from the tea house, thus things can get quite expensive the higher you go – noted that daily per person need about 4000 Nepali rupees ($40 USD) and you have to carry cash with you for 5 days trek because there are no money exchange and ATMs along the route.

E. What to take with you:

As you know that this is one of the easiest trekking routes in Nepal so besides the noticeable necessities, take hand warmers, trekking pools, A poncho for rain, a headlight, Warm socks, a flip-flop, an android phone –it is a practice to check about the trek.

In general, you need to take a warm jacket, trekking paints, a warm wooly hat-you can buy them in Kathmandu/Pokhara at a reasonable price, dry Food, Toilet rolls, trekking permit, TIMS card, basic medicine, liner for the night to sleep, Camera, extra water bottle, etc.

F. Electricity:

The electricity now in this trek is facilitated as they have mini-hydropower each and every village except Ghorepani and Ulleri, this two villages may not be sure for all-time electricity otherwise rest of the place you going stay will have power and you can charge your electrical devices( It is chargeable- cost a small amount of money)

G. With Guide or without:

The Ghorepani trekking does not completely go through the village, it goes through the forest, therefore, having a trekking guide with you is a more comfortable feeling and also he will share his long time experiences in the mountains, their culture, festival and so many unique things from the remote part of Nepal thus with a guide to Ghorepani poon hill trek will be a more effective and informative trip. Apart you are giving a job to the local guide that your money goes straight to the local people which will help to increase the Eco-tourism.

There are few trekkers who don’t hire any guide for this trek but he just enjoy by himself without any information about the region and you may lose the trail some time as well as the problem of reserving tea houses in high season, that is why if you have a guide with you he will reserve all your accommodation during this trek on time. It is suggested to have an experienced guide for this beautiful trek.

H. With Porter or without:

If you are taking a porter with you, noted that it is only 4 nights 5 days trekking and don’t need all your staff what you bring for the Nepal tour, thus your extra weight you can store in Pokhara or Kathmandu Hotel. They have a safe locker. You can ask your tour operator or guide what is necessary for the trek and what is not like that you try to make your light backpack for the porter.

If you are buying package services from a trekking agency then you will have one porter in your package if not costs $22 to $25 per day to hire a porter for trekking in Nepal. For this short trek, you can make your bag less than 15 kg however, the porter weight limitation is still higher than 25 kg but for Ghorepani trekking is not necessary.

I. Fitness:

Fitness is required for the trekking but in this trek, if you can walk 4 to 7 hours a day slowly at your own pace you can reach your destination & it is not a high altitude area trek that makes you too tired and may get mountain sickness, therefore, if you have fitness this is great if not also no worries keep your slow pace, rest a lot, eat, drink water you will make it.

J. Transport:

This trek begins from Pokhara so take a taxi or bus to Nayapul then trek to Thikhedunga, Furthermore, you can also take a jeep straight from Nayapul to Thikhedunga or Ulleri now, on the limitation of your time you can customize your itinerary.

Taking a taxi from Pokhara to Nayapul cost $25 USD, the bus cost $ 3 USD & the Jeep to reserve cost % 70 USD( Jeep from Nayapul to Ullery.
