The Annapurna Ghorepani poon hill trekking is one of the easiest,relaxing and mildest trekking routes in Nepal. Along this route you will meet many types of local ethnic groups such as the Gurung, poon magar,Bramin, sunuwar and many other casts. You will experience real Nepali life from locals working in the many rice fields, porters carrying their loads to stock mountain shops and buffalo herders.
Annapurna Ghorepani poon hill trekking can be completed in 3 days or extended if you desire.
The weather and therefore the views are at their best from September to December,however this trek can be enjoyed all year round,even during the monsoon where the trails are quiet. On this Ghorepani poon hill trekking you will enjoy stunning mountain scenery over snow capped mountain ranges and the view from the top of Poon Hill at sunrise or sunset is one of the best photographic opportunities you will find.
After two days climb you reach Ghorepani beautiful poon magar's village.This is the main junction for trekking in the Annapurna region. From here you can choose to go on the world famous Annapurna Circuit(5416 mtr) or visit Annapurna Base Camp(4160m).After a good night rest we wake early to summit Poon Hill to watch the sunrise over Dhaulagiri (8,167m) the ninth highest mountain in the world.
You then trek through Rhododendron forests with many waterfalls with chances to see many of the native birds of Nepal including the beautiful national bird 'Danfe',which is really nice bird with green and blue colour on.You may also see musk deer,Himalayan Thar (mountain goat),Langoor monkey and black bears.This leads you to Ghandruk(1950m),where you can learn more about the life and history of the Gurung people in the heritage museum.This caste supplies many of the soldiers for the Gorkha Army,famed for it bravery.Again the views here across the Annapurna range are fantastic.From here it is downhill to Pokhara where you can rest and recharge and savor the memories of an amazing journey into the Himalayas.
Ghorepani Poon hill trekking
DAY 1: Arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu (1350 Mtr) and transfer to hotel by private car/jeep van.
DAY 2: Drive from Kathmandu (1350mtr) to Pokhara (950 mtr), by Tourist standard bus , It is about 7 to 8 hours drive and the bus will stop twice a time for breakfast and lunch before we reach in Pokhara. Overnight in Pokhara hotel near the Fewa lake.
DAY 3: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul (1070 mtr) in the morning, it is about 1.30 hours drive and trek to Thikhedunga (1560 mtr),It is a short and easy day through some typical Nepali houses along the way and some beautiful waterfalls.
DAY 4: Trek from Thikhedunga to Ghorepani(2820m),It's about 6 hours walking through the Rhododendron forest and lots of waterfall, it is really beautiful day because you get to see many mountain view and also the life of Magar local life along the way.
DAY 5: Wake up early in the morning for sunrise view from Poon Hill sunrise point (3210 mtr),so after visiting poon hill hike, we come to the Ghorepani hotel for breakfast and head down to Tadapani (2660mtr). This day is moderate to walk, it means mostly we need to go down through the forest and really quite environment ,it's about 5 hours walking to Tadapani, over night in Tadapani,(Tadapani is very small area and got few hotels around and situated on the top of mountains which means next morning still you can see mountain view including Annapurna south , fishtail and many more.
DAY 6: Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk (1950 mtr) or Syaulibazar (1150 mtr),it depends where you prefer to be ,it's about 5 hours walking to Syauli bazar and 3hrs to Ghandruk.
DAY 7: Ghandruk/Syaulibazar to Nayapul, it's about 2/3hrs easy walking through many typical Gurung houses if you walk from Ghandruk and if you walk from sywali bazar, It is about 1.3o hrs to Nayapul and drive back to Pokhara by car/jeep/bus about 1.30 hours to pokhara hotel.
DAY 8: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu by comfortable tourist standard bus in the morning and it's about 8 hrs drive including Breakfast and Lunch time. if you want to fly from Pokhara to kathmandu, it takes only 29 minute but the cost will be added on top of package.
DAY 9: Airport drop By private vechicles from your hotel my self or my colic.
Accommodation in the mountain during your trek:
Rooms are based on 2 people generally sharing a twin bed in one room, it is safe and clean but you have to use bathroom services outside of your room.
It is really important that you have to understand that the accommodation during your trekking will be very basic but clean and safe.
Which Months is the best to go to the mountain?
There are two main trekking season Sep. to Dec. and Feb 15 to April is the best because by that time you can easily explore beautiful mountain every day because of clear weather each day in Nepal ,However you can make your trip all year .around Nepal.
Fitness level and altitude:
The altitude of 3210 meter and the trek duration of 7 days make the Ghorepani poon hill classified as a short, sweet and best trekking route in Nepal. The trails generally ascending and descending both but it is safe and beautiful scenic view from each settlement.
So, you will sleep one night at 2850 meters which is Ghorepani therefore you don’t get altitude sickness generally and enough oxygen each day.
As a Himalaya guide we recommend that all trekkers exercise 2 to 3 times a week before you start your trek back home and also it’s better to avout smoking habit if you are in it and drinking habit if you drink too much, so our porters will be carrying your big bags which means you will have your light bag.
The altitude of 4130m and the trekking duration of 12 days make the Annapurna Base Camp Trek classified as strenuous difficulty. The trek ascends very gradually when compared to all of our long treks and you only spend 1 night above 4000m. You are therefore much less likely to suffer from any altitude sickness related symptoms than the Langtang, Everest Base Camp Trek or Annapurna Circuit.
