Lumbini tour is one of the best and historical areas trip in Nepal and also Lumbini is the greatest pilgrimage site for all Buddhists from all over the world and known as the famous Lumbini Tour. Today Lumbini houses the pond where Buddha was bathed after he was born and a temple which has images of young Buddha with his mother.
The Lumbini tour is a great destination for many tourists as it is a designated Holy Place. Some 2500 years ago, Buddha was born in Lumbini, in south Nepal. Needless to say, that makes Lumbini the greatest pilgrimage site for all the Buddhists from all over the world. Today Lumbini houses the pond where Buddha was bathed after he was born and a temple which has images of young Buddha with his mother. To mark this important site, a stone pillar of the Indian emperor Ashoka was erected there as well. Several years ago, during an excavation, objects, of historical importance were discovered. They are displayed in a shrine and here for you to enjoy. Many Buddhists from all over the world built their stupas here; among them are stupas from Thailand, China, Sri Lanka, Japan and Myanmar.
Buddhism is one of the main religions in Nepal. Therefore, it is not surprising, to find many Buddhist monuments scattered throughout the country. The Kathmandu valley houses the Stupa of Swoyambhunath, which is not only 2000 years old but is also the biggest stupa at Boudhanath. The Bouddhanath Stupa though is 1500 years old and most popular among the many Tibetan refugees who live in Kathmandu. In the Kathmandu Valley, the city of Patan is dominated by Buddhists. It offers you great historical as well as religious places such as the Mahabouddha Temple and Hiranya Varna Mahavihar, for you to visit. On the outskirts of Kathmandu on the hill is the stupa of Namobuddha, small but old, active and highly revered.
The Lumbini Tour will take you to all those major Buddhist sites. However, travelling towards the city, you will see smaller and maybe not so well-known sites.
We will also take you to the peaceful and beautiful lake city of Pokhara. Here you can see the tremendous view of the Himalayas; and if that is still not enough adventure, you can hire a boat and explore the lake. A definite must is the World Peace Stupa – you just can’t miss this.
Finally, you will have free time to shop some of the Buddhist artefacts you may not find in your home country.
