Gokyo trek and Island Climbing is a best trekking route in everest region with lots of Biodiversity. Island Peak was the name given to the mountain in 1952 by Eric Shipton's who thought it to be reminiscent of an island in a sea of ice. It is also known as "Imja Tse" in Sherpa Name. It takes just 3 to 4 days from Dingbuche village to go there on top of island peak and back to Dingbuche with climbing guide. This is one of the adventurous trek include climb island peak.
This is twin in one trek cause is same time you are able to get the Everest base camp which is 5360mtr and of course island peak for fulfill your strong desire to be on top of island peak and island peak is not that difficult compare to other mountain in Everest region .the itinerary can be change cause there are many alternative trekking route.
DAY 1: Arrival in kathmandu
Arrival Tribhuwan International Airport and transfer to hotel and tour and trek preparaion.
DAY 2: Sightseeing tour in kathamndu.
Sightseeing tour starts in the monring after your breakfast at your hotel. Our tour guide will pick up you from your hotel in a private vechicle and take you to the most visited popular world heritage sites in kathamndu. your sight seing tour will be about 3 to 4 hours in a most visisted sites such as pashupatinath tepmple(Cremation place of hindu people), Swayambunath( shrines of lor buddha) it is also callled monket temple after that we will have lunch near by than explore the on ean only rich architect area Kathmandu durbar sqaure( Basantapur). it is really old historical and culture area made in middle age where you will see so many things than back to hotel withnyour guide.
DAY 3: Fly to Lukla (2860mtr) in the morning, and trek to phakding Village ,
It’s about 3 hrs walking along the Dhud koshi river this is really easy and beautiful day because the walking routse goes smothly through sherpa village and the trail is graduale down to phakding. It is hort walking day but the population of local people between lukla and phakding is relatively more than other settlemets in khumbu region that means you get to know so many things culture, farming,local life, massif mountains and beautiful rolling green hills around.
Phakding is a popular settlements ffor trekkers where we can have so many tea house and lodges at the bank or river.
DAY 4: Trek from phakding to Namche Bazaar(3450m)
Trek to Namche(3450mtr), It’s about 5 hours walking through some suspension bridge and pine forest, so day 2nd is also intresting day because this day you can see top of the world just 1 hour before you reach to Namche Bazaar and over night at Namche bazaar.
Namcke bazaar is the best cozy mountain city where we can get almost everything and located on the side of massif mountains. once you reach at namche you ahev aleady paradise view of Mt. Kogde, Kushum khag and mandu other peaks including Mt. Everest. If you need to change your money or need use ATM mechine there is available those services and also some cafe and BaKery.
DAY 5: Trek to Dole(4110m)
We begin our walk after we have breakfast in Namche. Our first 15 minute walk will be steep up than the path will be very easy and wide till kyangjuma which is about 1.30 minute walk on the side of massif mountins and eye catching views of Mt. Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Mt. Lotse and Mt Everest. After reachinh at kyanjuma We will follow the samll straight path up to mongdanda which is pleasent trail too in a open area and clear view surroundings. we will have lunch at mong danada than the trail lead us steep down hill at Phortse Thanga than follow the trails going up to dole through the rhododendron forest but it will be steep up walk till we reach at Dole. it is small village with about 10 tea house / lodges.
Day 6: Trek to Machhermo (4400 mtr),
This is easy walking day so we can leave not that early like other day because we just walk about 3 hours folowing the easy path Via Luza and Lafurma. it is easy gradual path and over the tree line area so the view of Mt. Cho-yo will be very close and clear each stepa you go further up towarads machhermo. we just walk 3 hours today because of the altitude limitation for our safety. it is also small area where we can stay in lodge.
DAY 7: Trek to Gokyo (4750mtr),
It is also easy walking becaue there is no climbing or steps along the way only gradual up which is not so hard only we need to be slow and need to keep same speed to be acclimatize the body with that environments and altitudes, after reaching at Gokyo valley you can visit massif glacier beside the gokyo hotels and big big lakes just infront of the hotel and mountains ,so it is really stunning place for food, view , accomodation for all its beautiful place. Over night at Gokyo.
DAY 8: Hike to Gokyo and back to hotel than head down to Thangnak(4750m).
We begin your early hike to Gokyo ri without bag back only we need to take day bag and essential things. this si about 2 hours hike step up to the top of gokyo ri. once you reach on the top of Gokyo ri the view of pristain lake, Mt. Eveest, world's biggest Nogjompa Glacier and many undiscribable views of peaks. after exploring the beauty of himalaya we will be back to hotel get some food than we follow the small rail along the glacir to Thangnak. over night at Thangnak.
DAY 9: Trek from Thangnak to Dhukla(4850M),
Our journey to dzogla today will be the hardest day but will be one of the best day to see the close up view of vast himlayan terrain. we begin our walk very early about 4.30 am because if we start to walk after 7 , or 8 am it wil be more difficlut for us to crossthe pass because the time we reach at the top of chola therw will be sunshine already and snow get melt tha will be dangerious and sleepary. our 4 hours walk from thangnak to the top of chola will be mostly steep than we head down to Dzogla through som ice on top of chola and rockey path way down to the valley of Dzogla. ther will not be a place to eat our lunch today betwen Dzogla and thagnak so we hould carry sopme dry food , pack lunch and enough water with us. when we recah at Dzogla we take our lunch than walk down to Thukla about 1 and half hour walk. over night at Dhukla.
DAY 10: Trek from Thukla to Chhukung( 4700 mtr),
AS usual we take early beakfast and we trek to Dingbuche following a small walking rail along the wide valley. the walking area will be still over treeline area so the view will be inspiral on your each steeps down to dingbuche. it is only about 2 hours walk to dingbuche where we will have our lunch than walk gradula up hill to chhukung. over night at chuukung in a lodge.
DAY 11 : Trek from Chhukung to island peak base camp(4750m),
Today we just walk a shot distance for on teh rocky path through glacier. we will stay in a tent at island peak base camp today. your climbing guide will give you important information about the island peak and basic training how to climb. over night in tented camp.
DAY 12: Strat climbing to the Island peak(6179m) top than bcak to base camp after that trekto Dingbuche.
your climbing gide will teach you many things about mountains and climbing things and also we acclimatize than at night about 1 am we begin to climb to the the submmit of island peak. the last 2 to 3 hours will be technical on snow/ice other wise it is hard but not so much techincle. after reaching on top we descent to back camp in the morning than we will solow tha same way back to Dingbuch via chhukung.
DAY 13: Trek to Namche bazaar(3450m)
We begin our trek after some food in tea house in the morning. we will rek to Nmache bazar today which is mostly down hill through Tangbuche monastory, Pangbuche and Kyangjuma. you have aleday happy mood today to celebrate your trip regarding the successed of island peak and chola pass. we will walk about 7 hours today to namche Bazaar.
DAY 14: Trek to Lukla(2860m)
Today is our final walking day in khumbu region for this time. we follow the same way we took way up to namche. it will be quite long walking day about 7 hours but it will be eay walking becaue we are already under tree line area,m we have enough oxyzen, and there are plenty of foods to buy each 5 minute walking interval.once we reach at lukla we have a big celibretion with all trekking team especilay with porters.
DAY 15: Fly from lukla to kathamndu,
We fly in the morning from lukla to kathamndu after we have breakfast. it's about 30 minute flight through the mounatin and over night in kathmandu.
DAY 16: Final departure to Home
We will drop you to the airport in a private car/jeep on time and hoping our next visit soon in the future.
