Nagarkot hiking is standing at a height of 2176 m and 32 km in distance. It is in the northeast of Kathmandu. It is one of the best and close hiking destination for travelers as it is situated on the top of the Mountain and a panorama view of all Langtang, Gauri Sanker, and Ganesh Himal.this short trip will be fit for anyone especially who have really hectic schedule but really want to make a day or two days hiking in the peaceful area near Kathmandu, Nagarkot Chisapni is the best option to explore the nature.

Nagarkot hiking is a two days smooth gradual uphill walk but easy walking through Sundarijal bazaar, Shivapuri National park, and lovely Mulkharka Village. The main highlights of this trekking are insane Sunrise and Sunset views over the Langtang mountain range and Ganesh Himal.

We begin our trek from Kathmandu by Bus/car to Sundarijal than we start to walk from Sundarijal which is Northeast of Kathmandu. The first day we have to ascend all the time till Chisapani which is standing at a height of 2135 m and about 576km in distance from Kathmandu. Our first night we spent in Chisapani which is a beautiful small village on the top of massif Mountain ridge, it means we can see all Langtang Mountain range and Ganesh Himal. During Nagarkot hiking, we will walk through Shivapuri national park that houses abundant of many rare species of birds, wild animals, and many different Plants. 

Nagarkot Hiking is one of the popular hiking near Kathmandu and Bhaktapur. these are two different popular names for mountain view spots, also popular inside and outside in the country. Both of them provides magnificent views of Mt. Everest, Langtang Range, Manaslu, Buddha Himal, Dorje Lakpa, Gauri Sanker and Ganesh Himal. This trip is not only to explore the mountains it presents the Culture, Traditions, Local life, and wonderful valley view.

Nagarkot hiking outline Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival Kathmandu Airport.

Day 2: Trek to Chisapani (2150m),

Day 3: Trek to Nagarkot(1750),

Day 4: Trek to Changunarayan Temple than drive to Kathmandu Hotel.


Day 1: Arrival Kathmandu airport.

When you arrive in Kathmandu airport our airport representative will pick up you from airport to your hotel. He will be waiting for you with your name and private transportation once he drops you at your hotel we will come to your hotel for short brief about your trekking and trip preparation.

Day 2: Trek to Chisapani (2150m),

When you finish your breakfast at your hotel our guide will come to your hotel to pick up you and drive by private transport to Sundarijal which is 40-minute drive than we follow a small steep trail along the big water pipe towards the forest. We have to walk through the forest and terrace field till Mulkharka Where we will stop for Lunch than continue walk steep climb through the forest for another 3 hours to Chispani which is located on the top of the big green lush mountain. It is one of the best viewpoints to see all Langtang mountain range and awesome green valley. Overnight stay at Chisapani.

Day 3: Trek to Nagarkot(1750),

We start this day quite early after We finish our breakfast because We have to walk about 6 to 7 hour. We start to walk on a flat wide road at the beginning than we walk continue through the bushes and stunning valley view to the side. We walk about 3 hours flat walk on the road than we go down to Jhule and Chauki Bhanjayag, Where we will stop for lunch break then we will follow the road again for another 2 hours than steep up to the Nagarkot hill. The last 40 minute will be our hardest part cause it is a steep climb. When you reach Nagarkot you will have such stunning open views and snow cap mountains. Overnight at Nagarkot.

Day 4: Trek to Changunarayan Temple than drive to Kathmandu hotel.

It is an easy walking day after our breakfast We walk downhill through the local village and beautiful landscape to Telkot it is easy walking about 2 hours then we will stop at Telkot for tea break then we will follow the wide off road through the pine forest and small hut. After 2 hours walk on the ridge of we will reach Changunarayan temple which is the oldest temple of Kathmandu valley which is built in the 5th century it has the really old architect. After visiting this temple we will drive back to Kathmandu hotel about 40 minutes.

Where is Nagarkot?

Nagarkot is popular hill station to the east north of Kathmandu about 32 km drive. it is a popular short hiking spot for travelers and local tourist as it is the beautiful place. the sunrise view in the early morning from Nagarkot view tower will be just undescribable including Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, and Mt. Everest9if weather is crystal clear).

How long does it take to go to Nagarkot?

Nagarkot is a close small town near the capital only 32 km to the east so there is Jigjag road but a fine road to go via Bhaktapur. there is two option to go to Nagarkot either you go by vehicles or by foot via Sundarijal. if you go through Sundarijal you will have such a spectacular view over the Himalayas and experience of jungle walking. if you go though Sundarijal it takes 3 days Kathmandu to Kathmandu and if you go by vehicles it takes two days including overnight at Nagarkot or if you don't have time to stay overnight where you can go from Kathmandu very early and by sunrise time you will reach Nagarkot and after sunrise view you can come back to Kathmandu.

Lodge/ hotels and food

nagarkot hiking is a short easy walking experience trip near Kathmandu and we spent two night over there in the lodge and hotel. there are many quality of hotel accommodation from 15 $ up to 150 $  a Night in especially in Nagarkot abut at Chisapani we will have the private room with inside bath but not as good as Nagarkot.

During this short hike every single steps you can see the tea shop, and small store I mean there are plenty of places where we can stop for lunch and snacks or tea break. when we reach the lodge/hotel where you can have almost all kind of food as they have professional cook and have many verities of foods.
