Gokyo trekking is a wonderful trekking Holiday in Everest region In Nepal. Gokyo trekking begins from Lukla after a 30-minute scenic flight in the small plane. This trek is a short Everest region trek leads you to the paradise hamlet Gokyo valley through Namche(Gateway of Everest region trek). Gokyo trekking is known as a Gokyo Valley trek & Gokyo Lake trek too as it is truly beautiful trekking with heart-stopping Mountain vistas, Pristine Blue Lakes, Glacier and many Snowcap Peaks surroundings.

Outline itinerary of Gokyo trekking:

DAY 01: Fly to Lukla (2840 m) than Trek to Phakding (2650 m)

DAY0 2: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3450 m).

Itinerary

DAY 1: Kathmandu airport(1350m).

As you told us the time and air company you are landing we will be at the airport with a private vehicle to pick up you. We welcome you with the flower made necklace than drop you at your hotel.

DAY 2: Fly to Lukla(2840m) thanTrek from Phakding (2650m)

It is our early morning weak up day because we will have an early flight to Lukla in a small plane about 30 minutes than we reach Lukla. Once we reach there we will manage our bags and day walking cloths than walk about 3 hours Gradual down passing many buddies prayer flags, mani walls, Stupas and beautiful landscape. It is the short and easy day. We will stay in Phakding village.

DAY 3: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3450m).

We need to finish our breakfast before 8 o’clock in the morning than we have to start to walk from Phakding. There will many suspension bridges and few Sherpa residency area till we walk Jorsalle which is 3 hours walk from Phakding. After passing Jorsalle we go again along the river and need to cross 2 more bridge to get the proper steep way to Namche. After crossing those bridges after Jorsalle we have to walk steeply 2 more hours through pine forest and checkpoint than we will be in Namche. It is where we going to get our sleeping room.

DAY 4:  Acclimatized day

It is generally the rules when you cross 3400 meters you should spend some there at list one extra night which helps you not to have mountain sickness. There are few popular places where we going to visit with your guides such as a museum, Everest view spot, national park museum, and Gompa. Overnight in Namche.

DAY 5: Trek to Dole(4100m)-5hrs walk

After having two night in the same place Namche we will be stronger and also acclimatized so first we walk a bit steep about 20 minutes after that it will super easy walk on the flat and wide trail till Kyanjuma and Sanasa. while you are between Kyanjuma and Namche the view will be just unbelievable and marvelous. The narrow and steep small trails lead you steeply up towards Mogh Danda after we pass Sanasa than after Mong Danada we go down again to the river and upwards to Dole which is lovely small area has the big lawn and fantastic mountain view. Most of the time after passing Mong danda we will walk through the forest that means we might get to see some Musk deer, black buck, and mountain goat. Overnight in Dole.

DAY 6: Trek to Machhermo(4400m)

It is your easy walking day after you finish your breakfast in the lodge you just walk gradually up in an open area and spectacular views around including Mt. Choyo 8000 M High. It is only 3 hours walking passing some turning and zigzag way. Overnight in Machhermo.

DAY 7: Trek to Gokyo (4750m) - 4 to 5 hrs

After your breakfast you going to walk gradually uphill along the valley towards Gokyo and glacier, it is also open area but paradise scenario around. when you walk 3 hours from Machhermo after passing Luza and Fanga you will get to see the beautiful blue lake next to the glacier. So in total you going to walk for about 5 hours. Overnight stay in the lodge of Gokyo.

DAY 8: Trek back to Machhermo(4400m)-7 hrs

the going to be your long day including the time you go up to Gokyo RI (5380m),It is really high peak where  the view of Mt. Everest, Mt.Choyo Lakes, Glacier and many uncountable mountains that you can explore and back to Gokyo again after that still you have to eat your breakfast than descending straight via same way you took a day before to Machhermo. You going to stay one night there in tea house.

DAY 9: Trek to Khumjung(3780m)- 6 hrs

Our group needs to be ready again in the morning for the day adventure which is also the same trail we gonna follow till near Sanasa than we have to climb 20 minutes to reach at Khumjung. Which is the old and historical village of Sherpa community as well as the Hillary school, old Khumjung Gompa, wide and colorful houses? We sleep one night there in the lodge.

DAY 10: Trek to Phakding(2660m)- 5 hrs

It is your 2nd last walking day in Khumbu Everest region. This day we just descend all the time through the forest, steep trail, suspension bridges, and few Sherpa village. After 5 hours easy walk along the river, you will get to Phkding where we stay.

DAY 11:  Trek to Lukla

We can start our journey quite late this day as we have only 3 hours walk to Lukla and in Lukla there are not many things to see and explore around so we can start late breakfast then walk to Lukla. Once we reach Lukla we have to manage the farewell dinner with guide and porter who helped your each and every step during your trip. Overnight in Lukla.

DAY 12: Fly to Kathmandu.

We will fly in the morning basically but depends how is the weather over there so when we reach kathmandu airport we will also provide you the private drop service to your hotel. Overnight in kathamndu.

DAY 13: Departure day

Our airport co-coordinator will drop you on time as you told us the date and time.

What is the maximum weight for a porter in Nepal?

Nepal tourism board published some rules and regulation for porters who used to work generally with tourist they carry 25 kg , so in general you will get one porter for two trekkers it means one trekker need to make their weight about 12.5 kg and if you have extra clothes or any extra things that you bought from your country you can leave in hotel locker in Kathmandu once you are back you will get it, it is safe.

What is the maximum weight can I take to Lukla by plane?

Flying to Lukla we will be in a small plane whereas just 14  to 16 people in one plane it is small this is why there is short of strict rules need to be just 15 kg per person as a luggage and small day bags as a hand carry you can take with you. if you have any extra things in your bag you can leave in Kathmandu hotel before you leave than it helps a lot to repack and to follow the rules. Still, after repacking your bag have more than 15 kg you have to pay 5 USD per kg than you can fly in or out.

How much do I need to tip for guide and Porter?

Tipping things is not compulsory but it is highly expected from field staff during your trek in Nepal such as waiter Driver, Guide porters. Mainly if you are in Nepal and doing more than week trip with guide or with porter you can tip about 100 USD for guide and 80 USD for porter but if they make your special trip with lots of information take caring and you feel safe all the time with them than you can add more tip on top of that.
