Overview

If you want to escape the commercialized trekking areas, have an amazing cultural experience, experience stunning views and avoid high altitudes the Indigenous People Trek is the one for you! This trek accesses some of the most culturally diverse areas of Nepal where you will see many ethnic groups, their way of life and traditions. It offers scenic trekking at relatively low elevations, below 3000m bound by Thulo Sailung peak in the North and the Golden Sun Koshi River flowing along the South. An amazing 400km Himalayan panorama (from Dhauligiri and Annapurna to the West to Kanchenjunga in the East) blended with cultural, linguistic and ethnic diversity will make this trek an experience of a lifetime.

This is a gentle downhill trek with a starting elevation of 3146m (Sailing), finishing at the Sun Koshi River (533m) through the stunning Mahabharat Range. Virgin forests are home to a variety of wildlife including deer, Languor monkeys, and pheasants and in the spring they become a riot of color when the rhododendrons bloom. Accommodation along the way includes tea houses and home-stays which will give you a real insight into how the six ethnic groups of this area live (Tamang, Newar, Sherpa, Thami, Yolma, and Majhis). Host families are trained to prepare meals hygienically and always are incredibly welcoming, treating you as one of their family. The homes reflect the traditional and simple atmosphere of the people. The area has many temples, sacred caves and shrines reflecting the two main religions (Hinduism and Buddhism). Tourists can also enjoy the traditional folk dances and music presented by the local men and women in their colorful traditional dresses. The focus for the guests is on experiencing and learning from an authentic and enriched culture. Visitors are often involved in local activities that range from cooking classes through to attending a traditional wedding, watching a local cultural dance. The home-stay allows visitors to discover the real Nepal and to enjoy the untouched countryside.

Nontouristic area trek is a safety and more relaxing because there is not any volume of tourist and less crowded.
